Importing your Trade Republic history into a portfolio tracker

Trade Republic can produce a transactions export, a wide CSV file with one row per event. This guide explains how Allocaria tells a trade from a cash movement or a delivery of shares, why crypto rows are not read, and what to check in the table before the result is saved.

Getting the file

Ask the app for the transactions export, which the German app calls Transaktionsexport. The place in the app where it is requested can change, so follow the app's own help for the current path. Choose the longest period available, and bring several files in one after another if the history has to be split.

What the file looks like

Every row is one event with a category and a type. The columns used are the date (or the date and time), category, type, asset class, symbol, shares, price, currency and transaction id. The same file also carries amounts, fees, taxes and bank details of counterparties; those are not needed and are not read.

What is read, and what is refused

  • A trade is a row of the category TRADING whose type is a purchase or a sale.

  • The symbol column holds the ISIN for shares and funds, and that is how the instrument is identified.

  • Rows of the category CASH, such as deposits and interest, are counted and reported as not read.

  • Delivery rows, for example shares received as a gift or moved by a technical ISIN change, change your holdings without a price. They are refused with a reason and listed, not turned into trades.

  • Crypto rows are refused, because a crypto symbol can collide with the ticker of a share.

  • A transaction id that appears twice is one operation, which keeps two exports pasted into one file from counting trades twice. Fees are not read; the table shows a fee of 0.

Checking the table before saving

What is read from a file is a proposal, not a record. The rows appear in a table, and nothing is added to the portfolio until the person has looked at them and confirmed.

  • Read the list of refused rows as well as the table: each says why it was left out. A position that came from a gift or a technical change can be added by hand with its date and a price you know.
